What are PCD/CBN?
I. PCD Tools, also known as Diamond or Diamond Tools
1. Mainly used for processing copper and aluminum, achieving a high surface finish (generally reaching above 0.1Ra).
2. Specifications: Available in both indexable and welded types (special specifications can be customized according to customer drawings or requirements).
3. Advantages: Diamond tools can withstand impact loads, have minimal wear, and have a durability that is tens to hundreds of times higher than that of carbide tools. They can also be reground and reused.
II. CBN Tools, also known as Cubic Boron Nitride Tools
1. Mainly used for processing hardened steel, cemented carbide, or cast iron. CBN is an extremely hard tool material, second only to diamond. It performs best when the material hardness is above 48HRC (it wears quickly when processing soft materials). It maintains excellent red hardness up to 2000°C and is suitable for processing workpieces with a hardness above 48HRC.
2. Advantages: Using CBN tools can significantly reduce tool changes and tool wear, compensating for the time spent on machine setup, allowing CNC machines to operate more efficiently. This enables post-hardening turning (turning instead of grinding) on a single CNC machine, and they can be reground and reused.
III. ND Tools, also known as Natural Diamond or Natural Diamond Tools
1. Mainly used for processing copper and aluminum, achieving a mirror-like high surface finish.
